Decidi, finalmente, fazer um "post" sobre AURORA. Quem me conhece (de verdade) sabe que estou a adorar o seu trabalho. E que bom trabalho ela tem feito. Ela, que parece tímida, introvertida, introspetiva, sonhadora e um pouco desconectada com o nosso mundo, dá-se a conhecer através da música.
Ouve-se muitas coisas boas hoje, sobretudo na música "indie" e ela é uma das que vale a pena descobrir. Para quem ainda não a ouviu é começar já e para os que já gostam dela (como eu) é continuar a seguir o seu trabalho.

Ela começou cedo (muito cedo) com músicas muito interessantes e era tão jovem. "Runaway" projetou-a para o mundo de tal forma que a Katy Perry referenciou-a num "tweet" sobre AURORA.

A mãe dela foi quem a incentivou a partilhar as suas canções como se de uma dádiva se tratasse para o mundo e como ela fez bem.
As suas letras são sentidas e profundas e as suas mensagens são claras - fala do que a toca enquanto mulher e ser humano que vive num mundo de contrastes. Algumas letras foram escritas quando ela ainda não tinha 12 anos!? O que me leva a questionar a profundeza e o conhecimento com que ela cresceu e a sua maturação interna. A sua cabeça é um espaço mágico, um mundo de saber - sabe o que sentimos e o que nos é familiar. Incrível.

É uma pessoa muito próxima da terra. Ela é oriunda dos arredores de Bergen perto dos Fiordes na Noruega. Ela, aliás, faz muitas vezes alusão à sua ligação com a natureza, aos animais e às pessoas. Adora borboletas noturnas, traças, ela coleciona-as (moths) por serem seres da noite que procurem a luz. De tal forma que a capa do seu primeiro álbum "All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend" é ela em borboleta da noite.

Eu conheci-a com "Runaway" é verdade, numa tarde em que estava a ouvir Youtube na televisão. Aquelas tardes em que se está a limpar a casa e a música está aos altos berros. Foi a minha filha que me fez descobrir AURORA.
- " Mãe! Tens de ouvir esta música!" disse-me. Agarrou o comando e escolheu uma canção em que a cantora estava de fato sem mangas no meio da neve...
Ouvi e adorei a canção, mas, como estava limpar, não dei a importância que ela veio a ter... Se seguem este Blog (deveriam) viram que coloquei a canção e a letra de "Infections Of a Different Kind", nome do 2º álbum com a qual "caí de cu" com se diz em bom calão. Foi uma explosão de surpresa e de estupefação, fiquei pasmada. Como é possível, aquela miúda que tinha apenas 17 anos no vídeo de "Runaway", escrever uma música deste calibre com uma letra tão adulta? Muito Kate Bush é verdade - ela tem ótimas referências: Leonard Cohen; Bob Dylan; Kate Bush; Enya; Bjork e mais, mas para mim chega e sobra. Ela até pode adorar e adora Metal, o que é tão improvável, mas tão bom de saber.

Fiquei "in love" com esta música e quis conhecê-la melhor. Fiz uma busca intensa no Youtube para fugir ao que me era proposto. São sempre as mesmas músicas, as que estão nos" Tops" quando entrámos, como se não tivéssemos poder de escolha e... dei com um concerto de natal na Noruega em Nidarosdomen. Comecei a ouvir com atenção, sublime, quando no meio de toda a beleza, da grandeza do concerto, apareceu "It Happened Quiet" e ali esvaziei - foi o meu fim! A voz é perfeita, ela não canta melodias fáceis de cantar. Há uma performance vocal nesta canção, uma performance vocal apaixonada muito próxima do canto lírico e é muito teatral. A voz é cristalina e potente. Já a adorava, mas esta versão fez-me entrar no seu mundo, querer saber o que ela já tinha feito e esperar pelo o que vai fazer.
It Happened Quiet
Já não é uma criança, transformou-se numa borboleta, numa adulta consciente dos problemas da nossa sociedade. Agora é uma ativista, uma feminista, alguém que denigra todas as violências feitas às mulheres, às vítimas, homens, os que sofrem do e por amor e contra a violência conjugal e passional. Só que nesta canção a vítima volta e vinga-se. As palavras " As your dreams as dead as they seems" são poderosas e enfatizam a falta de clareza, a vontade de matar, a perda de discernimento e a falta de visão de uma pessoa antes de cometer um crime por paixão. É uma grande crítica aos que só veem o mal porque já não apreendem o bem que está na vida e os seus sonhos são minados pelas suas obsessões. Mas aqui ela responde "Don´t you speak over my voice, i will return from the shadow, and i´ll bleed in your bed, turn it red, like the ground outside the window, love is wild." Este final é grandioso! Em "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" ela morre, em "It Happened so Quiet" ela assombra o agressor, o assassino.
AURORA é jovem, parece frágil mas tem uma força incrível. "Infections Of a Differente Kind (step1)" é um álbum mais concreto, com uma definição mais clara do que ela quer mostrar e representar no mundo. É uma pessoa preocupada e agora, mais que tudo, pronta a assumir as suas escolhas.
Na mesma onda que a música anterior e no mesmo álbum temos "Churchyard" que fala de pessoas abusivas, violentas que detém o poder e usam-no sobre os outros.

A produção é mais leve, mais dela e mais dançante que em "All My Demons Greeting Me As a Friend". É um álbum menos "dark", menos "sad" como ela diz que o seu primeiro, mesmo se, as mensagens mantém-se fortes. Há mais entrega em "Infections Of a Different Kind (step 1)", as músicas são como hinos que pretendem definir um caminho para quem sofre e se revê nas suas palavras. São canções de esperança como Queendom, um reino, o seu reino para que todxs encontremos um lugar. A letra é libertadora e cheia de amor para as mulheres, os homens, as crianças, a comunidade LGBTI, a natureza e os animais.

"Infections of a Different Kind" continua com muitas facetas - uma música sobre o saber viver com a saudade dos que nos deixaram em "Forgotten Love", sobre a sexualidade feminina em "Gentle Heartquakes", com o pedido para um "Soft Universe" e o contraste entre o mundo exterior e duro e o nosso interior suave e doce em "All is Soft Inside". A música é tão ritmada. "Infections Of a Different Kind" é tão bom, mas tão bom que as músicas em versão instrumental continuam fabulosas. Ouçam e vão ver.

Entretanto, já divulgou o seu 3º álbum: "A Different Kind of Human (step2)" com duas músicas editadas e as duas com vídeos. O primeira "Animal" é uma critica feroz à nossa sociedade. Ela escolheu, no entanto, fazer uma música dançante.

É um convite à dança com um tema muito forte. Esta dicotomia é tão interessante e mostra que ela gosta de baralhar as coisas.
A segunda "The Seed" é um hino à nossa terra mãe, no momento em que os jovens estão a chamar à atenção para os problemas climáticos. O vídeo faz alusões às greves estudantis e à Greta Thunberg.

AURORA é uma grande trabalhadora. Já lançou duas músicas desde que escrevi esta mensagem sobre ela. "The River" e "A Different Kind of Human". "A Different Kind of Human" que é ,alías, o nome do seu 3º álbum. "The River" é o primeiro com uma mensagem que fala sobre o choro, sobre chorar sem medo, deixar as lágrimas saírem como catarse que elas são e assumir as nossas fraquezas para seguir apesar das nossas tristezas. Quando a ouvi pela primeira vez não fiquei fã, não parecia dela e depois soube que era uma versão para a rádio com uma mistura de Mark Ralph. No entanto, depois de ouvir várias vezes encontrei uma singularidade e uma leveza interessante, mesmo assim, estou á espera da versão dela que irá sair no álbum no dia 7 de junho. Estou mesmo à espera.

Como escrevi em cima ela lançou a poucos dias a música "A Different Kind of Human", nome do álbum, que é a faixa nº 8. O 8 que tem um sentido muito especial para ela - simbolo do infinto. A canção que é de uma beleza estonteante, berça-nos de novo para o mundo da AURORA, o seu mundo mais pessoal e tocante. A mensagem, segundo ela, é sobre a morte, mas, não com a violência das outras músicas em que a morte é uma das personagens, mas como uma continuidade, um lugar seguro, sobretudo para os que vão cedo demais. Um reconforto para elas e para os que ficam com esta imagem. Todos nós sabemos o que é. Vou colocar o vídeo depois da música em que ela fala do que ela tinha em mente quando a escreveu. É tão bonito que até me custa escrever sobre a música. "A Different Kind of Human" é tão rico que pode ter mais que uma interpretação e cada uma delas é tocante - tocante mais uma vez - sim AURORA é uma pessoa tocante. Posso, até, escrevê-lo 8 vezes se me apetecer. Boa escuta.

I finally decided to make a "post" about AURORA. Anyone who knows me (really), knows that I love her work. And what a good job she´s done. She, who seems shy, introverted, introspective, dreamy and a little disconnected from our world, makes herself known through music.
You hear a lot of good things today, especially in indie music and she´s one that it worth discovering. For those who haven't heard her yet, it´s time to starting now and for those who already like her (like me) it´s continuing to follow their work.
She started early (very early) with very interesting songs and was so young. "Runaway" projected her to the world in such a way that Katy Perry referred to her in a "tweet" about AURORA.
Runaway
"Runaway" is one of her most emblematic songs. She often cries when she sings it live longing for her home. She´s an emotional person, something she doesn´t hide, such as her worries and feelings that she transfers to music.
Her mother was the one who encouraged her to share her songs as if it were a gift to the world and how well she did.
Her lyrics are felt and profound and her messages are clear - she speaks of what touches her as a woman and a human being who lives in a world of contrasts. Some lyrics were written when she was not yet 12 years old !? Which leads me to question - how the depth and knowledge with which she grew and her internal maturation? Her head is a magical space, a world of knowledge - she knows what we feel and what is familiar to us. Amazing.
His first album is resounding in its content, as well as in the way it was produced. Several producers, with it, gave each song a space to get lost.

I discovered her with "Runaway" is true, one afternoon when I was listening to YouTube on television. Those afternoons when the house is being cleaned and the music is loud. It was my daughter who made me discover AURORA.
- "Mom! You have to listen to this song!" she told me. she grabbed the controller and chose a song in which the singer was in fact sleeveless in the snow ...
I heard and loved the song, but as i was cleaning, i didn't give it the importance that came to have ... If you follow this Blog (you should) you can see that I put the song and the lyrics of "Infections Of a Different Kind", name of her 2nd album with which "I fell in the my ass" as it is said in a good slang. It was an explosion of surprise and amazement, I was amazed. How is it possible, that girl who was only 17 years old in the video for "Runaway", to write a song of this caliber with such an adult lyrics? A lot of Kate Bush is true - she has great references: Leonard Cohen; Bob Dylan; Kate Bush; Enya; Bjork and more, but for me it´s enough. She can even love metal music, she loves metal, which is so unlikely, but so good to know.

I was "in love" with this song and wanted to get to know her better. I did an intense search on Youtube to escape what was proposed to me. They are always the same songs, the ones that are in the "Tops" when we entered, as if we had no power of choice and ... I came across a Christmas concert in Norway in Nidarosdomen. I began to listen carefully, sublime, when in the midst of all the beauty, the greatness of the concert, "It Happened Quiet" appeared and emptied me - that was the end of me! The voice is perfect, it doesn't sing easy-to-sing melodies. There is a vocal performance in this song, a passionate vocal performance very close to lyrical singing and it´s very theatrical. The voice is crystal clear and powerful. I already loved her, but this version made me enter her world, want to know what she had already done and wait for what she will do.
It Happened Quiet
She´s no longer a child, she´s become a butterfly, an adult aware of the problems of our society. Now she´s an activist, a feminist, someone who denigrates all the violence done to women, victims, men, those who suffer from and out of love and against conjugal and passionate violence. Only in this song the victim comes back and takes revenge. The words "As your dreams as dead as they seem" are powerful and emphasize the lack of clarity, the will to kill, the loss of judgment and the lack of vision of a person before committing a crime for passion. It is a great criticism to those who only see evil because they no longer apprehend the good in life and their dreams are undermined by their obsessions. But here she replies "Don´t you speak over my voice, i will return from the shadow, and i´ll bleed in your bed, turn it red, like the ground outside the window, love is wild." This ending is grand! In "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" she dies, in "It Happened so Quiet" she haunts the attacker, the murderer.
AURORA is young, looks fragile but has an incredible strength. "Infections Of a Differente Kind (step1)" is a more concrete album, with a clearer definition of what she wants to show and represent in the world. She´s a concerned person and now, more than anything, ready to assume her choices.
In the same vein as the previous song and on the same album we have "Churchyard" which talks about abusive, violent people who hold power and use it over others.

The production is lighter, more hers and more danceable than in "All My Demons Greeting Me As a Friend". It's a less "dark", less "sad" album as she says her first, even if, the messages remain strong. There is more delivery in "Infections Of a Different Kind (step 1)", the songs are like hymns that intend to define a path for those who suffer and see themselves in her words. They are songs of hope like Queendom, a kingdom, your kingdom for us all to find a place. The lyrics are liberating and full of love for women, men, children, the LGBTI community, nature and animals.

"Infections of a Different Kind" continues with many facets - a song about knowing how to live when we miss those who left us in "Forgotten Love", about female sexuality in "Gentle Heartquakes", with the request for a "Soft Universe" and the contrast between the hard outer world and our soft, sweet interior in "All is Soft Inside". The music is so rhythmic. "Infections Of a Different Kind" is so good, but so good that the instrumental versions are still fabulous. Listen and you will see.

However, she has already released his 3rd album: "A Different Kind of Human (step2)" with two edited songs and both with videos. The first "Animal" is a fierce criticism of our society. She chose, however, to make a dance song.

It´s an invitation to dance with a very strong theme. This dichotomy is so interesting and shows that she likes to mess things up.
The second "The Seed" is a hymn to our motherland, at a time when young people are calling attention to climate problems. The video alludes to student strikes and Greta Thunberg.

AURORA is a great worker. She has released two songs since I wrote this message. "The River" and "A Different Kind of Human". "A Different Kind of Human" which, incidentally, is the name of his 3rd album. "The River" is the first with a message that talks about crying, about crying without fear, letting the tears flow like the catharsis they are and assuming our weaknesses to continue despite our sadness. When I first heard it, I wasn't a fan, it didn't sound like it and then I knew it was a radio version with a mix of Mark Ralph. However, after listening several times I found a singularity and an interesting lightness, even so, I am waiting for the version of it that will come out on the album on June 7th. I'm really waiting.
The River
As i wrote above, she released the song "A Different Kind of Human" a few days ago, the name of the album, which is track number 8. The 8 which has a very special meaning for her - symbol of the infinity. The song, which is of stunning beauty, brings us back to the world of AURORA, its most personal and touching world. The message, according to her, is about death, but not with the violence of the other songs in which death is one of the characters, but as a continuity, a safe place, especially for those who go too early. A comfort for them and for those who have this image. We all know what it is. I'll put the video after the song in which she talks about what she had in mind when she wrote it. It is so beautiful that it even costs me to write about this music. "A Different Kind of Human" is so rich that it can have more than one interpretation and each one is touching - touching again - yes AURORA is a touching person. I can even write it 8 times if I feel like it. Good listening.
