Estava a escrever sobre o filme "Retrato de Uma Jovem em Chamas" quando, ao pesquisar o trabalho da realizadora e argumentista Céline Sciamma vi, que além dos filmes "Lírios d´água" e "Tom Boy", dois filmes com temáticas LGBT, ela fez este filme que eu não conhecia. Pensei que era um trabalho um pouco diferente e que valia a pena ver. Foi o que fiz e fiquei completamente apaixonada, de tal forma, que decidi mudar a mensagem e escrever sobre este filme.
"Girlhood" é filme sobre o crescimento de uma adolescente negra nos subúrbios parisienses, e a sua mudança quando ela entra para um "gang" de raparigas. O "gang" que elas criam é como um guião que lhes permite fugir das suas realidades em que as liberdades individuas são abafadas e julgadas. Elas sonham sair. Vivem num mundo muito machista, patriarcal, no qual são impedidas de se exprimirem por serem raparigas, mulheres, devido à herança cultural, étnica, da família ou da religião. A pobreza é um ponto em comum, a escola não é um abrigo, ela não facilita a emancipação e a descoberta do amor é uma armadilha, mesmo se, este amor é recíproco.
No percurso de Marieme há muitas transformações. É lindo ver a preocupação da realizadora em tocar nestas transformações e deixar-nos como testemunhos de uma ficção que não está muito longe da realidade. Sciamma foca, mesmo assim, a ligação que elas constroem, representa-as como forças da natureza que são. O filme é realizado em 2015 e, para mim, é chocante perceber que estas realidades perduram há décadas. Ela frisou, numa entrevista, que não há nenhuma, ou quase nenhuma, representatividade das mulheres negras no cinema em França. Foi encontrar as suas atrizes na rua.
É um filme sobre a liberdade numa prisão, qualquer que seja a prisão. Sciamma desenhou-nos um filme sobre a rebelião, a resiliência, a coragem, a identidade, a pertença e a força. Ela pintou os contrastes da sociedade em que vivem, em que vivemos.
Billie Eilish é uma rapariga de 18 anos que conquistou o mundo com a sua música e personalidade. A sua carreira é um estrondo ao nível mundial. É, aliás, por causa disso que quis fazer esta mensagem, porque estou simplesmente pasmada com a sua ascenção.
Para isso, vou tentar escrever, da forma mais cronológica e honesta, a minha descoberta até os dias de hoje, com, pelo meio, a sua passagem por Portugal.
Enquanto, eu estava deliciada com as minhas novas paixões musicais, surgia uma rapariga da Internet de uma forma nunca vista. Aliás, foi a minha sobrinha que me fez descobrir Billie Eilish, na única vez que falamos sobre música. Falei-lhe das minhas paixões e ela mostrou-me um vídeo de uma rapariga chamada Billie Eilish, que eu não conhecia, apesar de ter 7 milhões de subscritores no YouTube. Fiquei muito perplexa, agarrou no telemóvel e fez-me ouvir "Bellyache". Não queria acreditar nas palavras... Verdade seja dita que a música era muito interessante, a produção um regalo e o desempenho vocal muito, muito bom. Fiquei muito curiosa...
Bellyache
Não sabia nada sobre ela, mas, mesmo nada, apesar de já dar cartas nos Tops (inter)nacionais com o seu EP "Don’t Smile at Me". Os meus dias passavam a ouvir outros artistas até que, de repente (para mim), já não me lembro onde e quando, vejo "When The Party is Over". Bem, o que me chamou a atenção, como a todas as pessoas aposto, foram as lágrimas pretas a caírem dos seus olhos. Aqui sim, comecei a perceber que ela diferia de tudo o que era produzido. Podemos falar do vídeo, da sua camisola branca imaculada, numa atmosfera branca e lágrimas pretas a caírem como se fossem o epítome de sofrimento e de libertação. Incrível. Fiquei espantada, devo dizer, com a simplicidade do vídeo, da música e a interpretação é mais uma vez muito boa. Vai muito baixo que até arrepia e sobe como se nada fosse.

Depois, saiu a música e o vídeo de "Bury a Friend". A produção da música é genial. O seu irmão Finneas é quem produz e escreve as músicas com Billie Eilish. Esta música é minimalista, bem orquestrada e apoia a letra de uma forma perfeita. A letra é como um expurgar dos demónios, dos nossos medos, das nossas perdas, do suicídio. O vídeo é extraordinário, parece um sonho tirado de um filme de terror. Não me choca em nada. A voz masculina é maravilhosa e contrapõe-se à dela, como se fosse um chamamento que a puxa para cima, para a terra, para a realidade e aceitar a vida apesar dos sofrimentos. Os demónios estão por baixo da cama.

Estou a tentar ser o mais próximo possível da minha cronologia em relação à minha descoberta, por isso, a música que se segue é de um vídeo de 2018, (ela tem 16 anos) que vi em 2019 no “show” da Ellen, que passa em Portugal com uns meses de diferença. Portanto, como devem perceber, está tudo um pouco interligado. Na altura, Billie Eilish estava em todos o lado. "Bad Guy" já saíra. Eu, só começava a dar mais atenção ao seu trabalho, como explico mais em cima, quando vi... "You Should See Me in The Crown" e fiquei pasma! Fiquei apanhada! Foi o momento chave que selou a minha admiração. Ainda há mais, mas este, foi o momento. Na atuação, há apenas o irmão num sintetizador e um baterista. Uma produção, outra vez, diferente, minimalista, pormenorizada e, além disso, as palavras são de empoderamento - força; superação e de conquista. O Álbum "When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" ainda não saíra em 2018, apesar de ela interpretar esta música que faria parte dele. Deixo-vos com esta incrível perfomance.

Eu, aparentemente, não tenho uma idade que se encaixa no universo dos fãs ou dos apreciadores de Billie Eilish. Pelo menos, era o que pensava, mas, depois do que vi, tudo mudou.
Foi de tal forma que, eu tinha bilhetes para ir ver um concerto de uma das minhas cantoras preferidas em julho de 2019, quando a minha sobrinha e a minha irmã disseram-me que tinham bilhetes para irem ver Billie Eilish em setembro, no Altice Arena. Estou a falar, provavelmente, de um jantar, em casa dos meus pais, por volta de junho, muito próximo do acontecimento. Depois do jantar, fui a correr para a Internet para comprar bilhetes para mim e para a minha filha e qual foi o meu espanto!? - estava tudo vendido! Os únicos bilhetes que restavam eram para a plateia, mas, tinham um limite de idade que impossibilitava a minha filha de 11 anos de ir. Mesmo assim, procurei em outros sítios “web” para conseguir bilhetes e consegui, não apenas para mim, mas sobretudo para a minha filha. Uma mulher, rapariga como a Billie Eilish, um ícone quase da idade delas (a minha filha e sobrinha) feminista é algo que se deve partilhar com todas as raparigas do mundo. Ela é a imagem do que eu acredito ser uma mulher forte, boa influência, presando a sua liberdade e lutando pelos direitos das mulheres. Assume-se diferente, fala abertamente das suas experiências, da sua saúde mental, do seu síndrome e quebra tabus em relação ao que é ser uma artista planetária. Defende o direito de não se estar bem e utiliza a música como catarse para ela e para os seus fãs. Veste-se como quer e foge dos estereótipos e preconceitos associados às mulheres que asfixiam muito o crescimento das raparigas. Após conseguir os 2 bilhetes nos balcões, não me importei com mais nada. Fiquei radiante!
"Bad Guy" é uma música em que ela assume ser ela o "Bad Guy." É interessante ver como ela se coloca em relação à letra. Ela pretende ser ela que está no poder, que é ela que manda e que é ela que decide com quem se relaciona. A produção é mais uma vez incrível. O vídeo é bem-disposto, ela parte tudo, goza um pouco com a imagem do "Bad Guy" - o fim confirma a tomada de poder. O vídeo tem mais de 800 milhões de visualizações, a canção foi canção do ano para os Grammy Awards. Aliás, o álbum também.

O seu sucesso estava à vista de todos. Quebrava todos os recordes com as músicas e os vídeos que lançava. "When We Fall Asleep Where do We Go?" era primeiro em muitos países, Portugal incluído. Eu, dentro deste álbum, descobri músicas que me tocaram pessoalmente - faixas mais íntimas, sentimentais, intensas, diferentes e muito bonitas, tanto na interpretação como na mensagem. É verdade que ela aborda temas muito profundos em todas as suas músicas, mas estas têm um lugar muito particular no meu coração. De tal forma, que são hinos de uma beleza incomum. É estranho serem as 3 últimas: "Ilomilo"; "Listen Before I Go" e "I Love You". A voz de Billie é muito suave, aliás, muitas das suas canções são murmúrios "whispers" sussurros com o qual ela nos enfeitiça. É raro ela gritar. São músicas de outro mundo, dádivas que nos foram presenteadas.
A Primeira que me tocou muito foi "Ilomilo" que se encaixa nas músicas que eram lançadas. Não sei como é possível não gostar desta música. O ritmo é tão bom, (adoro os baixos), bem como, a inocência das palavras: -" An endless fear of losing someone"*. A canção tem a ver com um jogo que foi criado com um intuito de juntar Ilo com Milo. Uma pérola. Na altura, não havia vídeo, mas, há pouco tempo, ela lançou um, como era expetável.
Ilomilo
Estamos a entrar numa outra essência. A sua integridade é exposta. Cada palavra é rasgada das suas entranhas. Nestas músicas, já não é apenas uma cantora que encontra uma plataforma de representação potente e externa, são momentos desafiadores em termos vocais e sentimentais. Aqui, com estas músicas, descobrimos uma Artista versátil e completa. Capaz de cantar e partilhar emoções. É raro um/a artista chegar a este ponto de perfeição. É de se tirar o chapéu!
"Listen before i go" é tão triste, mas, tão triste e tão bem cantado que consegue fazer-me chorar de tão belo que é. O tema da música é muito, muito perturbador...

A música seguinte é "I love you" e, mais uma vez, é um grande desempenho. Aqui, ela mostra toda a sua competência. Qualquer pessoa pode imaginar-se a cantar "I love You" em qualquer altura da vida, mas, não sei se consegue passar a mensagem com a mesma intensidade do que ela. As palavras são simples, poderosas e a interpretação é muito sincera. Quem não sente pele de galinha ao ouvir esta música? Uma atuação ao vivo que vale a pena ver.

E depois, fui ao concerto com a minha filha, como dissera. Foi espetacular! Adorei ver-me no meio de tantos e tantas adolescentes. Muitos(as) disfarçados(as) de Billie, com vestuário e cabelo a condizer. Foi tão bom ver toda uma diversidade de pessoas. Muitas mães e pais com filhos e filhas. A minha filha cantava o que conhecia, saltava, dançava. Valeu a pena!
Concerto em Lisboa 4 de Setembro de 2019
No dia do concerto em Lisboa, ela lançou o vídeo de "All The Good Girls Go To Hell". Interessante título, para uma música que é, segundo ela, sobre as alterações climáticas. Ela faz alusões muitas vezes a essas alterações nas palavras. O vídeo é muito revelador. Um jovem consciente do seu tempo. Ela faz renascer Lúcifer como prelúdio do que pode acontecer se continuar a negação e a inação dos homens. Se nada for feito, iremos ter é o inferno na terra!

Na minha descoberta um pouco desfasada, com uma cronologia ilógica, dissequei algumas músicas de "When We Fall Asleep, Were Do We Go?" e passei pelo seu EP "Don´t Smile at me" onde "Bellyache" foi retirado e colocado no início da mensagem, mas há muito mais por explorar. No EP há muito por gostar. A música, por exemplo, que a colocou no seu incrível caminho - "Ocean Eyes", em que as vozes foram inspiradas pela grande, mas grande (para mim), Aurora com o seu "Runaway", tem uma bonita história que envolve a sua criação: - "Além de cantar, eu também sou dançarina. Eu danço desde os oito anos. No ano passado, um dos meus professores perguntou se eu escreveria uma música ou se o meu irmão escreveria uma música para coreografar uma dança."* Colocaram a música no SoundCloud para descarregar gratuitamente e foi sempre a subir... a espalhar boa onda pelo mundo. A voz dela é incrível!
Ocean Eyes
A seguir coloco uma música que adoro e que tem, mais uma vez, uma mensagem maravilhosa. "Idontwannabeyouanymore" é sobre as dificuldades de se reconhecer em frente ao espelho. Muitos/as adolescentes não se sentem confortáveis com os seus corpos, muitos/as sofrem de Bullying por serem diferentes. A própria Billie Eilish usa roupa muito grandes para "não ser sexualizada" porque são comuns os comentários sobre o corpo, sobretudo das mulheres. A música serve para empoderar as pessoas que se sentem mal com elas próprias. Partilho este desempenho, espetacular, ao vivo.

No fim do ano passado saiu "Everything I Wanted" com outra mensagem muito bonita. Ela enaltece a necessidade de ter alguém como o seu irmão na vida, que a ampara e ajuda. Ele segue-a até ao fim da viagem. Canta, também, a sorte que ela tem de contar com quem lhe é importante e que a estrada que ela traçou conferiu-lhe alguma responsabilidade em relação ao seu público. Uma linda mensagem de amor. A música é fantástica.

Entretanto, ela ganhou muitos prémios, ela ganhou todos os Grammys onde ela estava indicada. O ano de 2019 foi dela e do irmão.
Foram convidados para fazerem a música do novo 007 e mais uma vez não dececionaram. A música é perfeitamente trabalhada para se enquadrar numa música de um filme de James Bond (como diriam os meus pais). O seu desempenho vocal é perfeito. Há sempre uma certa timidez na voz, é raro ela sobrepor-se à música, mas, quando ela o faz é impecável. Partilho a sua atuação nos Brit Awards.

É uma pessoa consciente do seu papel e não tem medo de opinar e comentar sobre o que se passa no mundo, bem como, no seu país. É ativa nos seus ideais. Ela e o irmão fizeram uma música sobre o filme "Roma" que se chama "When I Was Older" e é fantástica. "Roma" ganhou o Oscar de melhor filme estrangeiro em 2019. Está na Netflix.

O que é peculiar com ela, também, é a sua ligação com a moda. Grandes marcas de roupa alteraram os seus padrões para se encaixarem no estilo de Billie Eilish. Bom marketing para elas. Mesmo assim, ela desenhou roupas para a marca Bershka que permitiu aos seus fãs comprarem roupa dela a um preço acessível.

We can talk about the video, about his immaculate white nightgown, in a white atmosphere and black tears falling as if they were the epitome of suffering and liberation. Amazing. I was amazed, I must say, with the simplicity of the video, the music and the interpretation are again very good. She goes very low, it even creeps and goes up like nothing.

Then, came the song and video for "Bury a Friend". Music production is brilliant. Her brother Finneas produces and writes the songs with Billie Eilish. This song is minimalist, well orchestrated and supports the lyrics in a perfect way. The lyrics are like a purging of demons, of our fears, of our losses, of suicide. The video is extraordinary, it looks like a dream taken from a horror film. It doesn't shock me at all. The male voice is wonderful and opposes hers, as if it were a call that pulls her up, to the earth, to reality and to accept life despite suffering. The demons are under the bed.

It was such that, I had tickets to go to a concert by one of my favorite singers in July 2019, when my niece and sister told me they had tickets to go to see Billie Eilish in September, at the "Altice Arena" in Portugal. I'm probably talking about dinner at my parents' house around June, very close to the event. After dinner, I ran to the Internet to buy tickets for me and my daughter, and what was my surprise !? - everything was sold! The only tickets left were for the audience, but they had an age limit that prevented my 11-year-old daughter from going. Even so, I looked on other websites to get tickets and I got it, not just for me, but especially for my daughter. A woman, a girl like Billie Eilish, an icon almost their age (my daughter and niece) feminist is something that should be shared with all the girls in the world. She is the image of what I believe to be a strong woman, a good influence, preying on her freedom and fighting for women's rights. She is assumed to be different, she speaks openly of her experiences, her mental health, her syndrome and breaks taboos in relation to what it is to be a planetary artist. Not only that, but she defends the right not to be well and uses music as a catharsis for her and her fans. She dresses as she wants and runs away from the stereotypes and prejudices associated with women who stifle girls' growth a lot. After getting the 2 tickets at the counters, I didn't care about anything else. I was overjoyed!
"Bad Guy" is a song in which she assumes that she is the "Bad Guy." It is interesting to see how she stands in relation to the letter. She pretends to be the one in power, the one who is in charge and the one who decides with whom she relates. The production is once again incredible. The video is in a good mood, it breaks everything, enjoys a little with the image of the "Bad Guy" - the end confirms the seizure of power. It is rare for her to scream. They are songs from another world, gifts that were presented to us.
The first one that touched me a lot was "Ilomilo" that fits the songs that were released. I don't know how it is possible not to like this song. The rhythm is so good, (I love the basses), as well as the innocence of the words: - "An endless fear of losing someone" *. The song has to do with a game that was created with the intention of joining Ilo with Milo. A pearl. At the time, there was no video, but recently she released one, as expected.

In these songs, she is no longer just a singer who finds a powerful and external representation platform, they are challenging moments in vocal and sentimental terms. And then, I went to the concert with my daughter, as I said. It was spectacular! I loved seeing myself in the midst of so many teenagers. Many in disguise as Billie, with matching hair and clothing. It was so nice to see a whole diversity of people. Many mothers and fathers with sons and daughters. My daughter sang what she knew, jumped, danced. Worth it!
