Killing Eve - Series - English

Killing Eve is a series inspired by Luke Jennings books, which started in 2018 and has, so far, three seasons. At the time, the series received a resounding reception by the public - 97% positive reviews and won several awards, as did its actresses. It is a series produced by BBC America, and it is possible to see on HBO Portugal.

During the confinement, I finally decided to rent HBO to see the documentaries and series that interested me. I was already a subscriber to Netflix, and it was enough for me during the life I lived. The documentary about Michael Jackson Leaving Nerverland and Chernobyl were the reasons that made me dive into the HBO universe. I was overjoyed when I realized that Killing Eve was available, and strangely it was the last scene of the first season that made me want, really, to see the whole series, yes, when I saw the part where Villanelle is stabbed and where Eve is sorry, I was very curious.

And I had a lot of time to see ... I started with the first episode, followed by the second, the third and never stopped until I reached the end of the second season. The third season had not yet left. For me, it was gold on blue, I like to see the series like this, one episode after another. I don't like to wait to see the next one. So I saw the first and second in a few days. I had to wait to see the third one, and I was delighted with the ending. I'm looking forward to the fourth season

It is probably the series that we all need (all). The first season is brilliantly written by Phoebe Waller Bridge, which won several awards for its Fleabag series on Amazon Prime and which I recommend. The second was written by Emerald Fennell and the third by Suzanne Heathcote. Sex Education writer Laura Neal wrote two episodes in the third season and will be the lead writer for the fourth season. Killing Eve is very interesting due to the fact that women are the main writers and that many of the episodes are directed by women and the main characters are also women - which gives the series a feminine and feminist note that I love.

It was Phoebe Waller Bridge, incidentally, who was assigned to write the first season of the series from the book Codename Villanelle by Luke Jennings. Villanelle is the main character and is played by Jodie Comer. She is a hired killer, incredibly beautiful, obsessed with fashion, expensive clothes and who, in addition to being a relentless killer, without complacency or compassion is full of humour, sarcasm and there is something in her that connects us in a tender way. She has a coldness that I followed, and I was dazzled by her, not because I'm crazy, but because everything she does lets us enter her universe with bewilderment and surprise - and some concern because we don't want something bad to happen to her. We realize that it is her job, she was trained to do this, removed from her family at a very young age, and she probably cannot get out of this murder spiral because of the organization for which she works. She achieves a very good life, a lot of money, independence and power which gives her some comfort for her high standards.

Villains and psychopaths, we have seen many and there are extraordinary in films and series, such as Dexter, Norman Bastes in the film Psycho, Jack Torrance in Shining, Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction, divinely played by Glenn Close who also incarnated Cruella De vil, Catherine Tramell in Fatal Instinct by Sharon Stone, Derryl Hanna as Elle Driver in Kill Bill or Lena Headey in the terrible but so charismatic Cersey Lanister in Game of Thrones. These women, villains opened up this concept of the strong unscrupulous woman, who lives freely and can do the unthinkable and take anyone out of their minds. Some of these villains are unbearable, but others, like Villanelle manage to seduce us, win us over and despite being dangerous, they create a desire to protect them - which puts us in an uncomfortable position, because we love the fact that they are totally the opposite of our personality, at least mine. I wouldn't be able to do anything Villanelle does, but she is so professional, so perfect that I am able to let my guard down (which can be dangerous) and cheer for her and want everything to end well (especially with Eve). Strange connection with this psychopath ... These films and series with murderers prepared us for her with hundreds of examples - Villanelle is a happy surprise for me.

The whole series explores her ascension and transformations as a person, and the relationships with the other characters are rich, deep and light at the same time, yes, there are contradictions that relate us to his evolution through a refined sense of veracity, especially with the characters she doesn't kill! She kills a lot! It is clear that the connection with Eve gives us another view of Villanelle - after all, she has something human inside her. This obsession with Eve, disguised in a love that she senses in return, because Eve is captivated by murderous women and also has an attraction towards the villain, corresponds with our obsession with the bond that grows between them. We were expectant with the unfolding of the connection that goes up during the plot and this climb of interest is very well done and could not end in the best way.

Truth be told that the actress who plays Villanelle - Jodie Comer - is extraordinary! There are no words to describe her, she does this role perfectly! In such a way, that the character imposed itself on the actress throughout the series and I connected myself more with Villanelle than with the person who interpreted her, due to the sublime fusion. Villanelle is arrogant, proud, pretentious, manipulative, in addition to being a ruthless murderer, but she is also naive, childish and clumsy - which connects us with her. Jodie Comer was fortunate to interpret her, allowing freedom of action that placed her on a level very difficult to overcome. She is perfect throughout the first season - the scene in which she is in prison and wants to leave is stupendous, one feels all the suffering that comes from remembering her first incarceration because of a passionate crime. She continues to have periods, really amazing in every season - the cry in front of the mirror in the Netherlands or the cry in the third season on the train. These moments of deep intimacy portray a sensitivity to the skin. Moments of great beauty. It is clear that his performance is fantastic throughout the series, but these were the ones that touched me the most. The beauty of Jodie Comer, for my standards of beauty, connects us to Villanelle with dazzle, despite all her actions.

Jodie Comer has won several acting awards for Villanelle, such as BAFTA and EMMY and I think she could win many more because she is a great actress.

Eve is the other main character played by Sandra Ho that we all know from Grey's Anatomy or from the film Catfight. She also plays a big role as Eve, with which she won a Golden Globe. Despite being a more noticeable character for us, Sandra Ho manages moments of great intensity - the scene in the first season with Niko, before going to Moscow is fantastic! She does not compromise Eve's changes at all, she transports us into the character's underlying duplicity and effervescence. The chemistry with Jodie Comer looks excellent. The scene in front of the mirror, the kiss ...

Eve is a woman with a quiet, ruled life, a job, a husband, a house and a chicken. She works for MI5 / MI6, and she is obsessed with murderous women. She finds in Villanelle a challenge that puts her to the test, in fact, this interest will change her whole perception and her life. The relationship between the two grows over the seasons, and we realize that Eve finds a way to project herself into her life as an investigator. Villanelle, little by little, occupies all its space and, without realizing how, a love / hate connection is generated between the two. Whoever wrote this link was very good, it is like a lesbian love that gives the plot a journey of equality between them. If Villanelle were a man, or Eve, it would be different and all the magic of seduction, advances and setbacks would not have the delicacy of ambiguity when building the link between the two protagonists.

 All the characters are well-chosen, and they are all fundamental pieces in the development of the story. Konstantin, for example, the head of Villanelle, belonging to the so famous organization of "The Twelve", that we never really know who they are, is fundamental. His charisma and humour is in keeping with Villanelle's humour. The Actor who plays Konstantin, Kim Bodnia, the "Sexy Man" is formidable. The relationship between the two varies a lot and has many ups and downs, but it is always linked to Villanelle's extensive list of murders, because it is he who oversees her. A relationship that resembles the father / daughter relationship that Villanelle does not have, and we understand why in the course of the episodes. He is the perfect spy, he works for all organizations. Konstantin's trajectory is very interesting.  

Killing Eve is decidedly feminist. Carolyn, a character wonderfully represented by Fiona Shaw who also won a BAFTA, is the epitome of feminine power, freedom, levity, despite her having a prominent place in the organization in the relentless pursuit of "The Twelve". The connection with Konstantin is marvellous, as are the many men with whom she fell in love. There is a little feminine "Casanova" in her, which for us women is very good, because it deconstructs the prejudices that are normally directed towards powerful and free women. His humour and sarcasm are the best you can witness. Carolyn is an essential character in the series. The scene with Geraldine at the end of the third season is divine!

Throughout the series appear characters that make a huge contribution - Bill, Franck, Kenny, Niko, Hugo, Raymond, Helène, Dasha, Geraldine, Irina and others that fit the stories and give new developments to episodes and seasons. Villanelle herself creates several characters to achieve her ends, as if she were a chameleon that uses these to catch and kill its prey.

 

Another very interesting thing, is that Villanelle is part of the LGBTQ community. She exudes a very peculiar charm well worked by Jodie Comer - in the way of walking, looking, approaching, touching, conquering. All her irreverence, freedom, sexuality and pride are an integral part of the character and it is so good! She is in bed with a couple at the beginning, masturbates thinking about Eve, we realize that she had sex with two women and masturbates with Eve listening in the second season, but, despite all that, she treats her with a certain respect. She moves forward, offers gifts, but it is never vulgar (apart from the violence that encompasses her). We know that she wants to have something more intimate, but, she hopes that Eve is ready to move forward. Note that when they kiss it is Eve who kisses her - there is an honesty in the relationship with her that she doesn't have with the other characters. She seeks, at all costs, that she does not forget her. It is her supreme suffering. She feels overwhelming love, which also transforms her and makes her want to change her course. During the series, we feel that she is growing and when the third season ends, she obtains a peace that she did not have in previous seasons. Will she be ready to accept living a life away from the murders and all the adventures that brought her to this point? The end of the third season is a beautiful proof of love that she gives to Eve. The fact of asking to walk away, knowing in advance that it is impossible, pretending to give freedom to Eve, but she doesn't feel good about accepting it, is the more adult scene than Villanelle has with Eve. Villanelle will have to make many changes, because Eve has shown her that she is ready to move forward in a future in which she is part. It's very beautiful …

The last scene of the third season:

Villanelle has a keen and expensive sense of clothing and fashion, she can wear everything she wants and be stunning. The mystique, depth and intensity of the character are well-used with the series' clothing. There is a refined and taken advantage of with the natural beauty of Jodie Comer - even in pyjamas or dressed as a recluse she looks stunning! Hair is also used perfectly. The designers and the hairdressers did a great job with her.

Besides the characters, with whom we fall in love, there are other aspects of Killing Eve that delight us, such as the various destinations and countries where the series is developed. Villanelle travels a lot to kill her victims - she lives in Paris in season one, London in season two and Barcelona in season three. In amazing houses, Barcelona is very, very interesting. There are already fan pilgrimages to these locations.

Music is another very important part of the series and is headed by the group Unloved with its amazing moments that bewitch us and set the tone for the identity of the series. The symbiosis with the scenes gives them a deeper meaning. Some scenes acquire a perception that is validated by the messages that are in the texts or in the music itself. It always shines, and it packs each episode in such a way that, sometimes, it is the song that talks about what is happening.
 

The fourth season is on Stand-by because of Covid-19. I am hopeful that Villanelle's maturity will continue. A final like the end of the third season should signal what the fourth season will be. A turnaround of characters, with a lot of suspense, violence and murders, is to be expected, but this time allowing Villanelle and Eve a space to finally find the tranquillity they deserve. Villanelle has already shown that she is tired of her life and Eve accepts her as it is. Can she be forgiven in the series? Yes!

Durante o confinamento, decidi, finalmente, alugar HBO para ver os documentários e séries que me interessavam. Já era subscritora de Netflix e chegava-me durante a vida que vivia. O documentário sobre Michael Jackson Leaving Nerverland e Chernobyl foram os motivos que me fizeram mergulhar no universo da HBO. Fiquei radiante quando percebi que Killing Eve estava disponível e estranhamente foi a última cena da primeira temporada que me fez querer, muito, ver toda a série, sim, quando vi a parte em que Villanelle é esfaqueada e em que Eve fica arrependida, fiquei muito curiosa. 

E tinha muito tempo para ver... Comecei com o primeiro episódio, seguiu-se o segundo, o terceiro e nunca mais parei até chegar ao fim da segunda temporada - a terceira ainda não tinha saído. Para mim foi ouro sobre azul, gosto de ver as séries assim, uns episódios atrás dos outros. Não gosto de ficar à espera para ver o próximo. Por isso, vi a primeira e a segunda em poucos dias. Tive de esperar para ver a terceira e fiquei encantada com o final. Estou expectante com a quarta temporada.

É provavelmente a série que todos precisamos (todas). A primeira temporada é genialmente escrita pela Phoebe Waller Bridge, que ganhou vários prémios pela sua série Fleabag que está no Amazon Prime e que recomendo. A segunda, foi escrita pela Emerald Fennell e a terceira, pela Suzanne Heathcote. Laura Neal, escritora de Sex Education, escreveu dois episódios na terceira temporada e será a escritora principal da quarta temporada. Killing Eve é muito interessante pelo facto de serem mulheres as principais escritoras e que muitos dos episódios são dirigidos por mulheres e que, além disso, as personagens principais também são mulheres - o que dá à série uma nota feminina e feminista que eu adoro.

Foi, Phoebe Waller Bridge, aliás, que foi designada para escrever a primeira temporada da série a partir do livro Codename Villanelle de Luke Jennings. Villanelle é a personagem principal e é interpretada pela Jodie Comer. É uma assassina contratada, incrivelmente bonita, obcecada pela moda, roupas caras e que, além de ser uma assassina implacável, sem complacência ou compaixão é cheia de humor, sarcasmo e há ago nela que nos conecta de forma ternurenta. Ela é de uma frieza que acompanhei e deslumbrei-me com ela, não porque sou maluca, mas, porque ela deixa-nos entrar no seu universo com perplexidade e surpresa - e alguma preocupação porque não queremos que algo de mal lhe aconteça.  Percebemos que é o seu trabalho - foi treinada para isso - retirada do seu elo familiar muito nova e, provavelmente, não consegue sair desta espiral de assassinatos por causa da organização pela qual ela trabalha. Ela consegue uma vida muito boa, muito dinheiro, independência e poder o que lhe dá um certo conforto para os seus padrões elevados.

Estas mulheres, vilãs, abriram este conceito da mulher forte e sem escrúpulos, que vive livremente e conseguem fazer o impensável e tirar qualquer pessoa do sério. Algumas destas vilãs são insuportáveis, mas outras, como Villanelle conseguem seduzir-nos, conquistar-nos e apesar de serem perigosas, criam em nós uma vontade de as proteger - o que nos põe numa posição inconfortável, porque adoramos o facto de elas serem totalmente o oposto da nossa personalidade, pelo menos da minha. Não conseguiria fazer nada do que a Villanelle faz, mas ela é tão profissional, tão perfeita que sou capaz de descontrair (o que pode ser perigoso) e torcer por ela e querer que tudo acabe bem, (sobretudo com a Eve). Estranha ligação com esta psicopata... Estes filmes e séries com assassinos e assassinas prepararam-nos para ela com centenas de exemplos - Villanelle é dentro de todos, para mim, uma feliz surpresa.

Verdade seja dita que a atriz que faz de Villanelle - Jodie Comer - é extraordinária! Não há palavras para a descrever, ela faz este papel na perfeição! De tal forma, que a personagem se impôs à atriz durante toda a série e liguei-me mais à Villanelle do que com a pessoa que a interpretava, devido à sublime fusão com ela. Villanelle é arrogante, orgulhosa, pretensiosa, manipuladora, além de ser uma assassina impiedosa, mas, também é ingénua, acriançada e desastrada - o que nos conecta com ela. Jodie Comer teve a sorte de a interpretar, permitiu-lhe uma liberdade de ação que a colocou num patamar muito difícil de superar. Ela é perfeita em toda a primeira temporada - a cena em que ela está na prisão e quer sair é estupenda, sente-se todo o sofrimento que lhe advém da lembrança da sua primeira encarceração motivada por um crime passional. Ela continua em todas as temporadas a ter períodos, verdadeiramente, fora de série - o choro à frente ao espelho na Holanda ou o choro na terceira temporada no comboio. Estes momentos de intimidade profunda retratam uma sensibilidade à flor da pele. Instantes de grande beleza. É evidente, que o seu desempenho é fantástica em toda a série, mas estes, foram os que me tocaram mais. A beleza de Jodie Comer, para os meus padrões de beleza, ligue-nos à Villanelle com deslumbramento, apesar de todas as suas ações.

Jodie Comer ganhou vários prémios de interpretação pela Villanelle, como os BAFTA e EMMY e penso que poderá vir a ganhar muitos mais porque é uma grande atriz. 

Toda a série explora a sua ascensão e as suas transformações enquanto pessoa, e as suas relações com as outras personagem são de uma riqueza, profundeza e ligeireza em simultâneo, sim, existem contradições que nos relacionam com a sua evolução através de um sentido apurado de veracidade, sobretudo com as personagens que ela não mata! Ela mata muito! É notório que a ligação com Eve dá-nos uma outra visão de Villanelle - afinal ela tem qualquer coisa de humano dentro dela. Essa obsessão pela Eve, disfarçada num amor que ela pressente correspondido, porque Eve é cativada por assassinas mulheres e também nutre uma atração em relação à vilã, corresponde com a nossa obsessão em relação ao vínculo que vai crescendo entre elas. Ficamos expectantes com o desenrolar da conexão que sobe durante a trama e esta subida de interesse é muito bem-feita e não podia acabar da melhor forma.

 Eve é a outra personagem principal e é interpretada pela Sandra Ho que todos conhecemos da Anatomia de Grey ou do filme Catfight. Ela também faz um grande papel como Eve, com o qual ganhou um Globo de Ouro. Apesar de ser uma personagem mais perceptível para nós, Sandra Ho consegue momentos de grande intensidade - a cena na primeira temporada com Niko, antes de ir para Moscovo é fantástica! Não compromete em nada as mudanças de Eve, ela transporta-nos dentro da duplicidade e da efervescência subjacente da personagem. A sua química com Jodie Comer parece excelente. A cena à frente do espelho, o beijo...

Eve e uma mulher com uma vida pacata e regrada, um trabalho, um marido, uma casa e uma galinha. Trabalha pelo MI5/MI6 e é obcecada pelas mulheres assassinas. Ela encontra em Villanelle um desafio que a põe à prova, aliás, este interesse vai mudar toda a sua perceção e a sua vida. A relação entre as duas vai crescendo ao longo das temporadas e percebemos que Eve encontra uma forma de se projetar na sua vida como investigadora. Villanelle, gradualmente, ocupa todo o seu espaço e, sem perceber como, gere-se uma conexão de amor/ódio entre as duas. Quem escreveu essa ligação teve muito bem, é como um amor lésbico que dá à trama um percurso de igualdade entre elas. Se Villanelle fosse um homem, ou Eve, difiriria e toda a magia da sedução, dos avanços e recuos não teriam a delicadeza da ambiguidade aquando da construção do elo entre as duas protagonistas.

Todas as personagens são bem escolhidas, e todas elas são peças fundamentais no desenvolvimento da história. Konstantin, por exemplo, o chefe da Villanelle, pertencendo à tão famosa organização dos "The Twelve", que nunca sabemos bem quem são, é fundamental. O seu carisma e humor coaduna-se com o humor de Villanelle. O Ator que encarna Konstantin, Kim Bodnia, o tal "Sexy Man" é formidável. A relação entre os dois varia muito e tem muitos altos e baixos, mas, está sempre ligada a extensa lista de assassinatos de Villanelle, porque é ele que a supervisiona. Uma relação que se assemelha à relação pai/filha que Villanelle não tem e percebemos o porquê no decorrer dos episódios. Ele é o perfeito espião, trabalha pelas organizações todas. A trajetória de Konstantin é muito interessante.

Killing Eve é decididamente feminista. Carolyn, uma personagem maravilhosamente representada pela Fiona Shaw que também ganhou um BAFTA, é o epítome do poder feminino, da liberdade, da leviandade, apesar de ela ter um lugar proeminente na organização na procura incessante dos "The Twelve"". A seu vínculo com Konstantin é formidável, tal como, os muitos homens com quem ela se apaixonou. Há nela um pouco de "Casanova" feminina, o que para nós mulheres é muito bom, porque desconstrói os preconceitos que normalmente são dirigidos às mulheres poderosas, livres e sexuais. O seu humor, sarcasmo são o melhore que se pode testemunhar. Carolyn é uma personagem imprescindível da série. A cena com Geraldine no final da terceira temporada é divinal!

Ao longo da série apareçam personagens que dão um enorme contributo - Bill, Franck, Kenny, Hugo, Niko, Raymond, Helène, Dasha, Geraldine, Irina e outras que se vão a enquadrar nas histórias e dar novos desenvolvimentos aos episódios e temporadas. A própria Villanelle cria vários personagens para conseguir atingir os seus fins, como se ela fosse um camaleão que se serve destas para apanhar e matar as suas presas.

 

Outra parte bastante interessante é que Villanelle faz parte da comunidade LGBTI. Ela emana um charme muito peculiar e bem trabalhado pela Jodie Comer - na maneira de andar, de olhar, de se aproximar, de tocar, de conquistar. Toda a sua irreverência, liberdade, sexualidade e orgulho são parte integrante da personagem e é tão bom! Ela está na cama com um casal no início, masturba-se a pensar na Eve, percebemos que fez sexo com duas mulheres e se masturba com a Eve a ouvir na segunda temporada, mas, e apesar de tudo isso, ela trata-a com um certo respeito. Ela avança, oferece prendas, mas, nunca é vulgar, (fora a violência que a engloba). Sabemos que ela quer ter algo de mais íntimo, mas, ela espera que Eve esteja pronta para avançar. De notar que quando elas se beijam é a Eve que a beija - existe uma honestidade no relacionamento com ela que ela não tem com as outras personagens. Ela procura, a todo o custo, que a ela não a esqueça. É o seu supremo sofrimento. Sente um amor desmedido, que também a transforma e a faz querer mudar o seu rumo. Durante a série, sentimos que ela cresce e quando acaba a terceira temporada consegue uma paz que ela não tinha nas temporadas anteriores. Estará ela pronta para aceitar de viver uma vida longe dos assassinatos e de todas as peripécias que a fizeram chegar a este ponto? O fim da terceira temporada é uma bela prova de amor que ela dá à Eve. O facto de pedir para se afastar, sabendo de antemão que é impossível, pretendendo dar a liberdade à Eve que não se sente bem em aceitá-la é a cena mais adulta que Villanelle tem com a Eve. Villanelle terá de fazer muitas mudanças, porque Eve mostrou-lhe que está pronta para avançar num futuro em que ela faz parte. É muito belo...

A última cena da terceira temporada:

Além das personagens, com as quais nos apaixonamos, existe em Killing Eve outros aspetos que nos encantam, como os vários destinos e países onde se desenvolve a série. Villanelle viaja muito para matar as suas vítimas - ela vive em Paris na primeira e Londres na segunda temporada e em Barcelona na terceira. Em casas espantosas, a de Barcelona é muito, mas, muito interessante. Já existem peregrinações de fãs para esses locais.

Villanelle tem um sentido apurado e caro em relação às roupas e à moda, ela pode vestir tudo o que ela quer e ficar estonteante. A mística, a profundeza e a intensidade da personagem são bem aproveitados com o vestuário da série. Há um intento apurado e aproveitado com a beleza natural da Jodie Comer - mesmo de pijama ou vestida de reclusa ela fica deslumbrante! O Cabelo também é usado de forma perfeita. Os/as desanhadores e os/as cabeleireiras/os fizeram um trabalho formidável com ela.

 

 A música é outra parte muito importante da série e é encabeçada pelo grupo Unloved com os seus momentos assombrosos que nos enfeitiçam e dão o mote para a identidade da série. As simbioses com as cenas dão um sentido mais aprofundado às mesmas. Algumas cenas adquiram uma perceção que é validada pelas mensagens que estão nos textos ou na música. Ela brilha sempre, e embala cada episódio de tal forma que, algumas vezes, é a música que parla sobre o que acontece.

 

A quarta temporada está em "Stand-by" devido à Covid-19. Tenho esperança de que o amadurecimento da Villanelle irá continuar. Um final como o final da terceira temporada deve dar o sinal do que será a quarta temporada. Uma reviravolta das personagens, com muito suspense, violência e assassinatos, como é expetável, mas, desta vez permitindo à Villanelle e Eve um espaço para finalmente encontrarem a tranquilidade que merecem. Villanelle já demonstrou estar cansada da sua vida e Eve aceita-a tal como ela é. Será que pode ser perdoada na série? Sim!

Numa altura, em que estamos a testemunhar protestos contra a violência policial nos estados unidos, que iniciaram com a morte lenta de um cidadão negro, e ao que tudo indica um assassinato com teor racista em Portugal, é o momento, para mim, de dar a minha opinião sobre o que está a acontecer.

"Black lives Matter" é muito mais do que isso. O racismo é, lamentavelmente, uma parte da nossa sociedade e é baseada no facto que existe uma noção de superioridade em relação à cor da pele ou da etnia, das pessoas.

Infelizmente, sempre existiu um sentimento de superioridade dos homens em relação aos homens desde os primórdios da humanidade. Esta superioridade é expressa por variadas razões, cor, religião, etnia, dinheiro, género, fobias, que provocaram até agora guerras e mortes incalculáveis. Parece que o sentimento que nos deveria engrandecer em relação às outras espécies é o que nos afasta mais. A tal "inteligência" que nos conferem e que, quando é colocada para o bem comum é maravilhosa, mas, quando é colocada para interesses egoístas é a mais devastadora que há. 

Temos de repensar o nosso propósito. Parar de nos unir em situações que não nos preenchem. Parar de acreditar em tudo e ter um julgamento que participe no bem para nós e para os outros. Os homens provaram, infelizmente, que não são capazes de ordenar a terra num caminho certo. Hoje, temos governantes que se preocupam mais com os seus umbigos do que com os seus cidadãos. São eleitos pela desordem que provocam ao seu redor. A ilusão de um reino onde essa desordem se sobrepões à essência humana - dividir com um ódio subjacente realçado nas profundezas da malvadez fazendo campanhas onde a liberdade de matar, rebaixar, isolar, discriminar outro ser humano, são enaltecidas como o caminho certo e esse caminho, não pode fazer parte da liberdade de qualquer campanha eleitoral. Por isso, não se pode promover, aceitar o uso de armas, de prisões, de mortes injustificadas. 

O que aprendemos, durante a pandemia e agora com os protestos, e como são geridos no mundo é que as mulheres devem ter uma maior expressão nas diretrizes mundiais. Deveria haver mais mulheres nos governos. Não há nada que não sabemos fazer para estarmos sempre na cauda das decisões que muitas vezes são coordenadas entre interesses que não melhorem em nada a existência e temos muitas provas disso. Algumas mulheres são melhores, outras preferem equiparar-se aos homens nas suas governações ou aproximam-se deles e isso é o que devemos evitar. Quando uma mulher luta contra outra mulher é o pior que nos pode acontecer. As mulheres deveriam ser unidas. A mulher é capaz de bem melhor e devem, a partir de hoje, e sempre, tomar as rédeas do mundo. Se houvesse uma greve, protestos das mulheres o mundo mudaria de certeza. Somos mães e temos muito para oferecer - o nosso tempo é agora!

As religiões, por exemplo, uma fonte de discórdia e de separação são ao meu ver uma maravilhosa forma de interiorizar a vida e de dar um sentido à mesma. No entanto, durante séculos, têm vindo a trazer um propósito desfigurado pela necessidade de poder que lhe é incutida pelos homens e mulheres que as reclamam como sendo únicas. O propósito é nobre, mas manchado pelo sangue que se derrama em nome delas. Deus tem várias caras e todas elas deveriam obedecer ao supremo chamamento que é a transfiguração do amor. As guerras e batalhas em nome de Deus, sejam elas quais forem não são a resposta para a nossa humanidade. A mulher foi desrespeitada durante demasiado tempo por escrituras que devem ser encaradas internamente e não interferir nas suas, nas liberdades individuais. Hoje, são a fonte de retrocessos demagogos para controlar as pessoas e as pessoas, demasiadas, pela incapacidade de reconhecer o mal que está nos que se servem delas, aceitam crimes contra outras pessoas que não são mais nem menos do que elas. Podemos falar de todo o espectro de pessoas. Pessoas atacadas por causa dos que elas são, podemos falar das mulheres, homens livres, homossexuais, transexuais, pessoas de outras crenças, cor, proveniência ou apenas etnias. A humanidade precisa de aceitar as diferenças se pretende que seja aceite como ela é.

A economia ultrapassou a humanidade. Dão-nos um caminho falseado no conforto que protejamos para nós próprios. Nada mais é nosso. Não temos direito aos nossos recursos, vendidos por pertencerem a alguém. É estranho como a terra pode ser de alguém quando ela é de todos nós. Estas leis e barreiras que a definem são as que alguns sugam enquanto nós observamos a nossa morte lenta sem poder fazer nada. Não temos direito às nossas liberdades. Somos controlados por tudo o que fazemos, o pensamento é a única coisa que ainda nos permite ter uma certa integridade. Mesmo assim, em muitos sítios prevalece nos autoclismos das casas de banho. 

Estas diferenças que pensamos ter por sermos diferentes geneticamente - não gostava que toda a gente fosse como eu - é a fonte estúpida pela qual existe violência e mortes. Estas classes que aparentemente são constituídas para poder oprimir realçam a nossas mais reles atitudes. O elitismo, a venda de si próprio, não falo da venda de pessoas contra as suas vontades, não a venda de nos próprios em prol do nosso intrínseco ego é a fonte do nosso contrassenso.

Não podemos matar, oprimir, martirizar, dizimar as pessoas, o mundo, os animais por todas as razões e por nenhuma em particular, é essa a nossa vergonha. 

"Black Lives Matter" é uma das várias expressões que nos permite reclamar a nossa identidade como seres humanos e perceber que essa pertença não se restringe apenas a um lugar ou país, mas, a todo o mundo como um só.

Nos EUA os negros " pretos" são mortes há demasiado tempo. Atenção as imagens são muito fortes e podem ferir as pessoas mais sensíveis.

Estas imagens foram a inspiração para uma música cantada por grandes cantoras negras. A primeira versão foi de Laura Duncan que não encontro, mas, foi Billie Holiday que a imortalizou. A letra da música e as imagens são difícies de encarrar. Como é possivel?

É evidente que a batalha é enorme, e esses homens e mulheres oriundos do esclavagismo carregam um peso enorme sobre os seus ombros.

A Violência policial que acontece em qualquer parte do mundo deve ser erradicada. Violência que pode levar à morte, mas, que também em muitos casos denigra a vítima que faz queixa. Os governos devem apoiar as populações para que esta comunicação funcione. É triste ver cidadãos serem maltratados, brutalizados por reivindicar melhores condições de vida por outros cidadãos que vestem uma farda. Há muito por mudar nessa violência porque a imagem que queremos ter das forças de segurança é de apoio e de ajuda. Não devem, não podem, ao meu ver, matar como resposta a uma simples intercalação, uma pessoa sob custodia, irromper dentro de casa de uma pessoa a dormir e matar porque se enganaram, não podem matar se não correm perigo. Não podem sufocar até à morte um homem indefeso a pedir ajuda. Em 2015 Prince já cantava sobre Baltimore.

A pandemia e a resposta de Trump abriu uma ferida enorme entre comunidades étnicas, ferida pela diferença de resposta aos sistema de saúde. A disparidade de mortes entre comunidades mostrou que a saúde não é para todos.

Chelsi West Ohueri é especialista em antropologia da medicina, estuda questões raciais na área da saúde e vive em Austin, no Texas. Em entrevista so Hypeness, ela explica que a situação enfrentada pelos negros atualmente é resultado de anos de dificuldades em conseguir um plano de saúde ou fazer da medicina uma rotina.“A realidade antes do coronavírus (e continua) é que negros norte-americanos assistiram ao decréscimo do acesso ao sistema de saúde dos Estados Unidos. Isso, claro, é efeito do racismo sistêmico que estrutura esse país”, pontua.*

São os mais afetados e a resposta foi de culpabilização, por terem mais doenças cronicas por causa da alimentação ou por fumarem, beberem ou usarem drogas, apesar da população negra ser a população que está na linha da frente para o combate ao Covid 19.

A pandemia acabou por realçar essas desigualdades que são estruturais, por muitas razões - estereótipos, preconceitos, políticas de alojamento, acesso à escola, etc. Foi a ignição às violentas manifestações nos EUA.

É evidente que o tempo acabou por elaborar uma revolta nessas pessoas e pensando bem essa revolta é perfeitamente percetível. 

“To Kill A Mockingbird” é um filme sobre o racismo durante os anos 30. O livro que deu origem ao filme foi escrito por Harper Lee e revela a injustiça que os negros viviam nessa altura. Não eram, não são vistos como pessoas legitimas e merecedoras de equidade. Uma injustiça que revela o pior dos seres humanos. O vídeo que partilho não tem uma muito boa qualidade, no entanto e apenas porque está em exibição no Cinema Nimas, amanhã, às 21h30, convido-vos a irem lá para verem com a magia do cinema.

É evidente que o racismo é baseado em falsos argumentos - não há pessoas inferiores com base na cor da pele. A liberdade de existir e de viver em comunidade deve ser o primeiro fundamento para a paz. infelizmente o que se passa e que não pode legitimar os discursos de odio é o medo que se tem, que a história inculcou na nossa convivência nas cidades - o medo e a insegurança. Muitas das pessoas que falam destas inseguranças, das que promovem estas inseguranças vivem longe das pessoas incutidas em guetos em termos espaciais e em termos internos, aquando da nossa própria reação às suas sobrevivências. Se estas pessoas são discriminadas, postas de parte, desempregadas, empregadas apenas para trabalhos difíceis, atacadas, mortas por causa da cor é evidente que a resposta só pode ser de violência para legitimar melhores condições de vida. Eu sou contra a violência, mas, a minha vida de "caucasiana" - de certeza que tenho muitas misturas dentro de mim - não me permitiu sentir isso, aqui, em Portugal. Mas senti-o em França onde cresci. Havia e há um partido que colocava a minha origem como algo de negativo para a França e os Franceses, e este sentimento é muito, muito mau. Em Portugal, não o sinto na minha pele, mas, como tenho um arco-íris que brilha dentro de mim, que foi ao longo dos anos a única fonte de discriminação que senti, além de ser mulher. Ser mulher é um processo muito complicado e mulher que pertence orgulhosamente à comunidade LGBTI, que a defende, defende a liberdade e a verdade acima de tudo, também o é. Sim, não é assim tão fácil, mesmo se tenho a sorte de viver num país com leis apropriadas e seguras em relação à comunidade. Pensando bem, se estas leis são importantes para manter uma pessoa segura na vida e no que ela é, é porque há qualquer coisa de errado na sociedade. Não se manifesta a importância dos direitos se eles já existem. A opressão é completamente errada e ninguém tem o direito de a utilizar sobre um outro ser humano. O sexo é "overrated". 

Toda a situação exaltou-se depois da morte de George Floyd, mas pouco antes um rapaz, Ahmaud Arbery tinha sido abatido, abatido é a palavra porque estava simplesmente a fazer algo que adoro fazer que é correr: fazer um jogging. Esta morte de origem racial ja tinha gerado uma grande revolta e raiva. A mim que não vive nos estados unidos, já me tinha, mais uma vez fez sentir um mau-estar. É interessante que se fala disso aliás. Posso não viver lá, mas sentir esse sofrimento, aqui ou em qualquer parte do mundo, onde a injustica impera. E não tenho contemplações, ficou muito muito furiosa com isso. É desvastador!

A vida é um direito de todos. Retirar a vida a alguém deveria ser o pior que uma pessoa pode fazer, mas o que se percebe é que a vida e as pessoas são conotadas como prescindíveis e isto não pode acontecer. Ninguém pode sentir que pode em algum momento matar alguém.

At a time, when we are witnessing protests against police violence in the United States, which started with the slow death of a black citizen, and apparently a murder with racist content in Portugal, it is the time, for me, to give my opinion on what is happening.

"Black lives Matter" is much more than that. Racism is, unfortunately, a part of our society and is based on the fact that there is a sense of superiority over people's skin color or ethnicity.

Unfortunately, there has always been a feeling of superiority of men over men since the dawn of humanity. This superiority is expressed for several reasons, color, religion, ethnicity, money, gender, phobias, which have caused incalculable wars and deaths until now. It seems that the feeling that should magnify us in relation to other species is what separates us the most. The "intelligence" they give us and which, when it is placed for the common good, is wonderful, but when it is placed for selfish interests it is the most devastating there is.

We have to rethink our purpose. Stop uniting us in situations that don't fill us. Stop believing in everything and have a judgment that participates in the good for us and for others. Unfortunately, men have proved that they are not able to order the land in a right way. Today, we have presidents who care more about their navels than about their citizens. They are chosen for the disorder they cause around them. The illusion of a kingdom where this disorder overlaps the human essence - sharing with an underlying hatred highlighted in the depths of wickedness by campaigning where the freedom to kill, demote, isolate, discriminate against another human being, are praised as the right path and that path , cannot be part of the freedom of any election campaign. For this reason, one cannot promote, accept the use of weapons, prisons, unjustified deaths.

What we learned, during the pandemic and now with the protests, and how they are managed in the world is that women must have a greater expression in world guidelines. There should be more women in the government. There is nothing we do not know how to do, to always be at the bottom of decisions, that are often coordinated between interests that do not improve existence at all and we have a lot of evidence for that. Some women are better, others prefer to match men in their governance or approach them and that is what we must avoid. When a woman fights another woman it is the worst that can happen to us. Women should be united. Women are capable of much better and they must, from today, and always, take the reins of the world. If there was a strike, women's protests the world would change for sure. We are mothers and we have a lot to offer - our time is now!

Religions, for example, a source of discord and separation are, in my view, a wonderful way to internalize life and give meaning to it. However, for centuries, they have been bringing a purpose disfigured by the need for power that is instilled by the men and women who claim them to be unique. The purpose is noble, but tainted by the blood that is shed in their name. God has several faces and they should all obey the supreme call that is the transfiguration of love. Wars and battles in the name of God, whatever they may be, are not the answer for our humanity. The woman was disrespected for too long by scriptures that must be looked at internally and not interfere with her, with individual freedoms. Today, they are the source of demagogic setbacks to control people and people, too many, due to the inability to recognize the evil that is in those who use them, accept crimes against other people who are neither more nor less than them. We can talk about the whole spectrum of people. People attacked because of who they are, we can talk about women, free men, homosexuals, transsexuals, people of other beliefs, color, origin or just ethnicity. Humanity needs to accept differences if it is to be accepted as it is.

The economy has surpassed humanity. They give us a wrong path in the comfort we protect for ourselves. Nothing else is ours. We are not entitled to our resources, sold because they belong to someone. It is strange how the land can be someone's when it belongs to all of us. These laws and barriers that define it are the ones that some suck while we watch our slow death without being able to do anything. We have no right to our freedoms. We are controlled by everything we do, thinking is the only thing that still allows us to have a certain integrity. Even so, in many places it prevails in the flushing of bathrooms.

These differences that we think we have because we are different genetically - I would not like everyone to be like me - are the stupid source for which there is violence and death. These classes that are apparently constituted in order to be able to oppress enhance our lowest attitudes. Elitism, the sale of oneself, I do not speak of the sale of people against their will, not the sale of ourselves for the sake of our intrinsic ego is the source of our nonsense.

We cannot kill, oppress, martyr, decimate people, the world, animals for all reasons and for none in particular, that is our shame.

"Black Lives Matter" is one of several expressions that allows us to claim our identity as human beings and realize that this belonging is not restricted to just one place or country, but to the whole world as one.

In the USA, "black" blacks have been dead for too long. Attention the images are very strong and can hurt the most sensitive people.

It is evident that the battle is enormous, and these men and women of slaving carry an enormous weight on their shoulders.

Police violence that occurs anywhere in the world must be eradicated. Violence that can lead to death, but that also in many cases denigrates the victim who complains. Governments must support the people for this communication to work. It is sad to see citizens being mistreated, brutalized for claiming better living conditions by other citizens wearing a uniform. There is much to be changed in this violence because the image we want to have of the security forces is one of support and help. In my view, they must not, cannot, in response to a simple interpolation, kill a person in custody, break into a sleeping person's house and kill because they were mistaken, they cannot kill if they are not in danger. They cannot suffocate a helpless man to death for help. In 2015 Prince was already singing about Baltimore.

The pandemic and Trump's response opened a huge wound between ethnic communities, hurt by the difference in response to health systems. The disparity in deaths between communities has shown that health is not for everyone.

Chelsi West Ohueri specializes in anthropology of medicine, studies racial health issues and lives in Austin, Texas. In an interview with Hypeness, she explains that the situation faced by blacks today is the result of years of difficulties in getting a health plan or making medicine a routine. “The reality before the corona-virus (and continues) is that black Americans attended decreasing access to the health care system in the United States. This, of course, is an effect of the systemic racism that structures this country ”, he points out. *

They are the most affected and the answer was blaming, for having more chronic illnesses due to food or for smoking, drinking or using drugs, despite the black population being the front line population to fight Covid 19.

The pandemic ended up highlighting these inequalities that are structural, for many reasons - stereotypes, prejudices, housing policies, access to school, etc. It was the ignition of the violent demonstrations in the USA.

It is evident that the time ended up creating a revolt in these people and when you think about it, it is perfectly noticeable.

“To Kill A Mockingbird” is a film about racism during the 1930s. The book that gave rise to the film was written by Harper Lee and reveals the injustice that black people lived at that time. They were not, they are not seen as legitimate and worthy people. An injustice that reveals the worst of human beings. It is evident that racism is based on false arguments - there are no inferior people based on skin color. The freedom to exist and to live in community must be the first foundation for peace. unfortunately, what is happening and which cannot legitimize hate speech is the fear that history has inculcated in our coexistence in cities - fear and insecurity. Many of the people who speak of these insecurities, of those who promote these insecurities, live far from people instilled in ghettos in spatial and internal terms, when we react to their own survivals. If these people are discriminated against, dismissed, unemployed, employed only for difficult jobs, attacked, killed because of color, it is evident that the answer can only be violence to legitimize better living conditions. I am against violence, but my "Caucasian" life - I certainly have many mixtures within me - did not allow me to feel it, here, in Portugal. But I felt it in France where I grew up. There was and is a party that put my origin as something negative for France and the French, and this feeling is very, very bad. In Portugal, I don't feel it on my skin, but, as I have a rainbow that shines inside me, which over the years was the only source of discrimination that I felt, besides being a woman. Being a woman is a very complicated process and a woman who proudly belongs to the LGBTI community, which defends her, defends freedom and the truth above all, it is also. Yes, it is not that easy, even if I am lucky enough to live in a country with appropriate and safe laws in relation to the community. On second thought, if these laws are important to keep a person safe in life and what they are, it is because there is something wrong in society. The importance of rights is not manifested if they already exist. Oppression is completely wrong and no one has the right to use it on another human being. Sex is "overrated".

Life is everyone's right. Taking someone's life should be the worst that a person can do, but what you see is that life and people are connoted as dispensable and this cannot happen. No one can feel that they can ever kill someone.
