Billie Eilish Cancellation - Music

I never thought I'd have to write about a 23-year-old girl who is a huge artist and who doesn't know me at all. Amazingly, there's a Billie Eilish cancellation because, according to some very poorly (un)educated people, she's a racist!?

I don't have any affinity with her, I don't even know her personally, but the ease with which such a serious subject can be used to hurt someone is really disturbing. I've seen so many horrible things said and so many lies on social media that to be surprised that there's an attempt to cancel the biggest artist of our time might smack of naivety on my part - I know!

Billie Eilish is probably the singer with the most promising future. All the countries want her, all her fans want her to perform in their countries and there were also, I think, some fans who interpreted her not going to their countries as an attack on their identities and nationalities. There can be very complex or very simple reasons for the decisions she makes for her “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT-THE TOUR”. She's not coming to Portugal... And how I wish she would. I went to see her in Lisbon, but I'll never think that the reason she's not coming is that she doesn't like Portugal or the Portuguese people. I think that being a fan is very, very good, but we will never be in the shoes of those we idolize.

The most absurd thing about all this is that Billie Eilish isn't racist! And why do I know this?

- She took to the streets to manifest for "Black Lives Matter"

She is sharing on her social networks ways to help people in the Gaza Strip;

- She is one of the most vocal about climate change;

- She is also vocal and critical of the politics in her country...

 

Billie Eilish is being canceled because she said in Ireland that she was of Irish descent - Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell was her real name - and that she felt comfortable among her peers. She suffers from Tourette's syndrome, and I'm sure what she really meant was that she wasn't used to seeing an audience that was so much like her, or she just wanted to be nice to the people who came to see her, as she does at all her concerts. Here there was a question of family and belonging, even though she wasn't born in Ireland. 

Once again, slander tries to demean and stifle a person with a big heart. She's not just an artist, but an artist, a woman who lives in her world and isn't afraid to take sides for those who need it most. Billie Eilish is needed in the world we live in, and we are lucky to have her at this time... We need more people like her!

O Cancelamento de Billie Eillish - Música

Nunca pensei ter de escrever sobre uma miúda de 23 anos que é uma enorme artista e que não me conhece de lado nenhum. Existe, pasmem-se, um cancelamento de Billie Eilish porque, segundo algumas pessoas bem mal (in)formadas, ela é racista!?

Não tenho nenhuma afinidade com ela, eu nem a conheço pessoalmente, mas, a facilidade em que se trata de um assunto tão sério para magoar alguém é deveras inquietante. Já vi muitas coisas horríveis, ditas e tantas mentiras nas redes sociais que, ficar surpreendida com o facto de haver uma tentativa de cancelamento da maior artista da atualidade, pode frisar a ingenuidade da minha parte - eu sei!

Billie Eilish é provavelmente a cantora com o futuro mais promissor. Todos os países a querem, todos os seus fãs querem que ela atue nos seus países e também houve, penso eu, alguns fãs que interpretarem o facto de ela não ir para os seus países como um ataque às suas identidades e nacionalidades. Pode haver razões muito complexas ou muito simples relativamente às decisões que ela toma para o seu "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT- THE TOUR". Ela não vem a Portugal… E como eu gostava que ela viesse. Eu fui vê-la a Lisboa, mas, nunca irei pensar que o motivo de ela não vir se deva ao facto de ela não gostar de Portugal e dos portugueses. Eu penso que ser fã é muito, muito bom, mas, nunca, nunca, estaremos na pele de quem idolatramos.

O mais absurdo nisto tudo é que a Billie Eilish não é racista! E por que é que eu sei isto?

- Ela teve nas ruas a manifestar para "Black Lives Matter";

- Está a partilhar nas suas redes sociais formas de ajudar as pessoas na Faixa de Gaza;

 

- É uma das mais vocais no que diz respeito as alterações climáticas;

- É vocal também e critica da politica que é desenvolvida no seu pais...

 

Billie Eilish está a ser cancelada porque ela disse na Irlanda, que ela era de descendência irlandesa - Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell do seu verdadeiro nome e que se sentia bem no meio dos seus pares. Ela sofre do síndrome de Tourette e tenho a certeza que o que ela queria dizer era mesmo que não estava habituada a ver uma plateia que era tão parecida com ela, ou apenas queria ser simpática para as pessoas que a foram ver, como ela faz em todos os seus concertos. Aqui tinha uma questão familiar e de pertença, apesar dela não ter nascido na Irlanda. 

Mais uma vez, uma maledicência que tenta rebaixar e abafar uma pessoa com um grande coração. Ela não é apenas uma artista, mas, uma artista, uma mulher que vive o seu mundo e não tem medo de tomar o partido de quem mais precisa. Billie Eilish é necessária no mundo em que vivemos e temos a sorte de a ter nesta altura... Bem precisamos de mais pessoas como ela!

Chappell Roan - The Subway - Música -

Desde ontem que estou a ouvir a nova canção de Chappell Roan e quero deixar aqui a minha reação. 

O ritmo da música é inebriante e faz lembrar uma balada dos anos 90. A estrutura é muita bem feita, Dan Nigro superou-se aqui e vai de encontro a algumas canções do álbum "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess" da Chappell Roan, que por sinal é fantástico! 

As personagens da canção são ela e, provavelmente, uma antiga namorada. Não correu muito bem e sentimos a dificuldade que ela teve ou tem para a esquecer. É uma balada triste, mas, muito comovente. Vou partilhar o vídeo porque vale a pena ser visto. 

Já é tempo de perceber que Chappell Roan é uma cantora maravilhosa. Tem um tom de voz meio ríspido, mas, que lhe confere uma sonoridade muito intimista e eu penso que esta canção faz sobressair a sua potência e afinação. Para mim, toda a canção é muito bem interpretada, mas, o refrão, tal como o segundo verso e o final soam de forma divinal!
